Ahead of their highly anticipated NCIS spinoff, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo have reunited with fellow original cast member Sasha Alexander. Despite the recent cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i, the NCIS universe remains strong, with exciting new projects on the horizon. One of these is NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which will see Weatherly and de Pablo reprising their iconic roles as Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David. Unlike previous installments, this spinoff will stream on Paramount+ instead of airing on CBS.
In the lead-up to their return, Weatherly and de Pablo have also launched a rewatch podcast titled Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch. The podcast features the duo revisiting the series alongside various special guests from across the NCIS franchise. Sasha Alexander recently appeared on the podcast, and fans were treated to a heartwarming reunion photo shared on Alexander’s Instagram.
As for whether Sasha Alexander’s character, Kate Todd, could still make appearances in the NCIS universe, there is potential. Though Kate’s tragic death occurred in the NCIS season 2 finale, she was reintroduced using archive footage in the show’s 1000th episode. Given NCIS‘s history of bringing Alexander back for special moments, it’s possible she could return in a creative way, such as through flashbacks or hallucinations, as seen in earlier seasons.
Additionally, Alexander may return in a different capacity by directing episodes of the upcoming NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Having directed an episode of Weatherly’s Bull in the past, she shares a positive relationship with both Weatherly and de Pablo. If she steps into the director’s chair, it would mark her first official involvement with NCIS since her departure from the show.
