Donnie Wahlberg Drops Exciting Blue Bloods Tease in New Video!

Donnie Wahlberg has been a vocal advocate for the continuation of Blue Bloods, and CBS’s recent plans to franchise the family-centered procedural might just make his wish come true. However, it’s still unclear if Wahlberg will be involved in any new projects stemming from the show.

During a Q&A session for VIPs on the New Kids on the Block tour, Wahlberg hinted at the possibility of more Blue Bloods content beyond its likely December conclusion. “We filmed what appears to be the final season of Blue Bloods, which will start airing in October. There might be something else after that. I don’t have any official details yet, but there are discussions happening. So, maybe something exciting will come up,” Wahlberg said.

While it seems there have been discussions about keeping Wahlberg’s character, Danny Reagan, within the Blue Bloods universe, no concrete plans have been confirmed. Reports suggest there were previous talks about a spin-off centered on Danny Reagan, but those negotiations did not progress to the development stage. Wahlberg’s recent comments have rekindled hope, but only time will tell if those discussions will lead to a new project.

CBS is taking a careful approach to any potential follow-ups, similar to how they handled the development of the Fire Country spin-off, Sheriff Country. CBS Studios president David Stapf mentioned, “We don’t have anything in development right now, but Blue Bloods is a cherished show. We need to get it right, so we’re taking our time to figure out what the next iteration might be. We have a full season ahead to celebrate the show, and there’s still time to explore future possibilities.”

CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach previously stated, “We love this cast and their passion for the show. All shows eventually come to an end, and it’s important for us to refresh our schedule. We plan to end Blue Bloods in December.” Despite this, the network seems open to expanding the show’s universe. For now, it’s clear that the Reagans might not be gone for good, and fans should stay tuned for potential developments.
