David McCallum’s 459 NCIS Episodes Are About to Be Broken—Find Out Who’s Next!

The character of Special Agent Timothy McGee has been a mainstay of NCIS since its early days, and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. As NCIS enters a new era with significant changes, including the departure and arrival of various characters, McGee is set to make history as the franchise’s most frequent visitor.

Unlike his retired predecessor Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, McGee, portrayed by Sean Murray, has no plans to leave the Major Case Response Team (MCRT). In fact, with the upcoming Season 22, McGee is poised to break records and become the most featured actor in the show’s history.

Introduced in Season 1, McGee became a permanent member of the team in Season 2 and has been a constant presence ever since. Over the years, McGee has evolved from an inexperienced newcomer to a key player working alongside high-ranking officials like Alden Parker and Director Leon Vance.

Sean Murray, who has portrayed McGee, has appeared in 452 episodes to date, surpassing Mark Harmon’s previous record of 435 episodes. Murray is now on track to surpass David McCallum, who played Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard and holds the record with 459 episodes, despite Ducky’s character passing away peacefully in Season 21.

With Season 22 on the horizon this fall, there is little doubt that Murray will surpass McCallum and solidify his place as the most featured actor in NCIS history. Fans can look forward to seeing McGee continue to play a central role in the series as it moves forward.
