Fans were devastated when CBS announced Blue Bloods Season 14 would be its last, marking the end of the Reagan family’s saga. The final season kicks off with a two-part arc, with the first half airing now and the rest coming next fall.
Showrunner Kevin Wade promises the series will stay true to its character-driven storytelling. “The stakes have always been about family conflict, not just solving crimes,” Wade says, hinting at deep emotional struggles ahead.
The season opens with Sgt. Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) going undercover in a dangerous human trafficking ring, putting him in peril. Estes joked about his drastic look change for the role, saying he showed up with “some hair on my face” after being told to ditch his usual grooming.
Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is understandably concerned, torn between his responsibilities as a father and a commissioner. Meanwhile, Frank shares a rare moment with Mayor Peter Chase (Dylan Walsh), where they bond over the loneliness of their positions, prompting Frank to reflect on his own identity beyond his job.
Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) faces a moral dilemma when his ex-partner Darryl Reid (Malik Yoba) confesses to a murder, forcing Danny to confront uncomfortable truths.
The final season will also bring back familiar faces, including Nicky (Sami Gayle), returning from San Francisco, and Jackie Curatola (Jennifer Esposito), now a police chief, who helps Danny with a case. The emotional journey deepens as Frank mourns the loss of his longtime friend, Lenny Ross (Treat Williams), adding a bittersweet layer to the series’ farewell.
