As Navy veterans themselves, the Brown brothers infused the song with a sense of camaraderie and respect, paying special tribute to Jessica Knight, who steps into her new role as Chief REACT Training Officer at Camp Pendleton.
A touching nod to David McCallum, who portrayed the beloved Ducky Mallard, is woven into the theme as well. The song references McCallum’s 1968 jazz single, “The Edge,” creating a heartfelt connection to the actor’s legacy. A similar stripped-down version of the original theme was featured in Season 21’s special tribute episode, where the team honored Ducky’s life.
