Blue Bloods Star BREAKS DOWN in Emotional Final Scene – “There Was Crying”

The Reagan family of Blue Bloods has become one of TV’s most beloved families, and as the show wraps up its 14-season run, star Tom Selleck reflects on the emotional final moments. In a candid interview with TV Insider, Selleck, who played patriarch Frank Reagan, shared how the cast’s strong familial bonds were evident on set, especially as they filmed the final scenes.

Selleck, who’s been with the show from the beginning, revealed he wasn’t part of the final scenes but made sure to be present during the last day of filming to support his co-stars, including Bridget Moynahan, Steve Schirripa, Donnie Wahlberg, and Marisa Ramirez. “It was hard, but I didn’t want to just stay home; I wanted to be there,” he said. “I felt an obligation to share the experience.”

The heart of Blue Bloods has always been the Reagan family’s close-knit dynamic, and that theme was reflected in the final scene Selleck filmed. “Ironically, my last scene was a family dinner—just like the first scene I shot 15 years ago!” he shared. The final dinner scene brought the whole family together, with Nicky (Sami Gayle) and Jack (Tony Terraciano) also in attendance. Selleck emphasized that the cast chose to keep the set closed for that emotional moment, keeping the family dinner intimate and unexploited. While many of his co-stars had more days of filming, Selleck’s final moment was one he’ll never forget.
