Lori Loughlin Returns to Blue Bloods for Final Season Guest Spot
CBS has announced Lori Loughlin’s highly anticipated return to Blue Bloods, reprising her role as Grace Edwards in the final season. The news was confirmed on Monday, November 4, after Loughlin’s appearance was teased in a promo for Season 14, Episode 14, which aired following the November 1 episode. Loughlin, known for her role on Full House, last appeared on Blue Bloods in 2016—four years before serving a two-month prison sentence for her involvement in the college admissions bribery scandal.
In the upcoming episode, set to air Friday, November 8, Loughlin’s character, Grace Edwards, is back in a significant storyline. Fans last saw Grace in the Season 7 premiere, where she pleaded with Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) to discourage her son from joining the NYPD after her husband’s tragic death in the line of duty. Now, it’s Frank who is asking Grace to reconsider her actions, as she has blocked his son Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) from receiving an award for his police work.
The episode, titled “New York Minute,” will also feature the return of Tony-winning actress Lauren Patten as Rachel Witten, Eddie’s (Vanessa Ray) former partner who has since become a social worker. Eddie faces a moral dilemma when she learns that Rachel may have crossed ethical lines to help a mentally ill client.
Here’s the official synopsis for Blue Bloods Season 14, Episode 14, New York Minute: “Danny and Baez [Marisa Ramirez] investigate an art gallery suspected of selling counterfeit pieces after a detective working on the case is murdered. Meanwhile, Eddie is torn when she discovers her former partner turned social worker, Rachel Witten (Lauren Patten), may have gone too far to secure essential help for a client, and Frank is upset when an award meant for Danny is rescinded by Grace Edwards, the widow of an NYPD officer killed on duty.”
