In the upcoming NCIS prequel series, NCIS: Origins, the role of young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, previously played by Sean Harmon, will now be portrayed by Austin Stowell. The reason behind Harmon’s recasting remains unclear, but it could be due to his demanding schedule with other acting and stunt coordination projects.
CBS may have also chosen to cast a new actor to offer a fresh interpretation of the character. Despite this change, Sean Harmon continues to contribute to the series as a co-executive producer, working alongside his father, Mark Harmon.
