NCIS Star Sean Murray Drops Bombshell on Show’s Uncertain Future!

Sean Murray Discusses His Future on NCIS: No Guarantees for Characters

Sean Murray, known for his role as Special Agent Timothy McGee on NCIS, has opened up about his future on the long-running procedural. Despite being a central figure since 2003, Murray acknowledges that no character is ever truly safe on the show.

Reflecting on his extensive tenure, Murray shared with People that the unpredictability of NCIS is part of what makes it compelling. “I think we learned this with things that have happened on the show over the years… No one is quite safe,” he said.

Although Murray remains deeply grateful for his 21-year journey with the show, he recognizes that change is always a possibility. “Obviously, being here 21 years, [I] have enjoyed, immensely, being a part of this show and continue to be incredibly grateful to be a part of this show, but you never know what’s going to happen,” he added.

Despite the uncertainty, Murray noted that the cast is enjoying their time on set, with no one currently eager to leave. “A really strong ship was built very early on, and the show developed and founded strengths in a different kind of way than most procedurals,” he remarked. He also emphasized the strong connection fans have with the show and its characters.

In related news, the NCIS franchise is expanding with the upcoming series NCIS: Origins, which will explore the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Mark Harmon will return as a narrator, with Austin Stowell, Mariel Molino, and Kyle Schmid portraying younger versions of Gibbs, Lala Dominguez, and Mike Franks, respectively.

NCIS airs on CBS in the US, and Seasons 1-20 are available for streaming on Disney+ in the UK. Production for NCIS: Origins is underway.
