Sean Murray’s NCIS Record-Breaking Moment in Season 22—You Won’t Believe It!

NCIS is gearing up for its impressive 22nd season, and with two more spinoffs in development, the franchise’s legacy continues to expand. Celebrating its 20th anniversary last fall, the procedural has seen many cast changes over the years. Yet, one actor has remained a constant presence throughout nearly every episode, and he’s about to achieve a notable milestone.

Sean Murray, who joined NCIS as Timothy McGee early in Season 1, has been a central figure in the series since being promoted to a regular cast member in Season 2. McGee’s journey from a junior agent to a Senior Field Agent and interim NCIS Director has been marked by his enduring presence even as fan-favorites like Cote de Pablo, Michael Weatherly, and Mark Harmon departed, and following the passing of David McCallum last year.

According to ScreenRant, Murray is set to surpass McCallum’s record for the most appearances in the NCIS franchise. McCallum, who portrayed chief medical examiner Donald “Ducky” Mallard since the JAG backdoor pilot, had accumulated a total of 459 appearances across the franchise, including NCIS: New Orleans and JAG. Before his passing at age 90, McCallum had reduced his role on NCIS, transitioning to a position as the NCIS historian and university lecturer.

Murray, who has appeared in 452 episodes, will break McCallum’s record in the first half of Season 22. His longevity in the role is a testament to his dedication and the show’s enduring popularity. Despite facing challenges, including a permanent injury from filming, Murray shows no signs of stepping away, making his impending record all the more impressive.
