Mark Harmon, 72, Looks Unrecognizable Ahead of ‘Freaky Friday 2’ Casting!

Plus, more about Mark Harmon’s role in the highly-anticipated Freaky Friday sequel.

Mark Harmon, the NCIS star known for playing Leroy Jethro Gibbs, has been spotted out and about, looking almost unrecognizable ahead of his role in Freaky Friday 2. Amid a major heatwave in Los Angeles, Harmon kept it casual in a red button-down shirt and dark-colored shorts while grabbing groceries. At 72, he sported shaggy grey hair, flip-flops, and squinted against the bright sun as he walked to the celebrity hotspot Erewhon Market, unaccompanied.

Harmon’s sighting came just days before his casting in Freaky Friday 2 was confirmed. On Monday, Disney released the first behind-the-scenes photo from the Freaky Friday 2 set, featuring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis sitting in front of their trailers, holding hands. Jamie, 65, made a rock and roll gesture with her free hand, while Lindsay, 37, smiled sweetly. Filming for the highly-anticipated sequel has begun, with both actresses reprising their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman.

Few details about the plot have been released, but fans do know that Anna will have a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter in the film. The official synopsis reads: “Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.” Disney has confirmed the film will hit theaters in 2025.

Freaky Friday, which grossed $160 million worldwide, was originally released in 2003. Jamie, Lindsay, and Mark aren’t the only stars returning; Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao will also reprise their roles. New cast members include Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons.

Lindsay and Jamie began teasing a Freaky Friday revival in 2023, but Disney did not officially announce the sequel until March 2024. Freaky Friday 2 will be directed by Nisha Ganatra.
