After years of saying Blue Bloods would never have a spin-off, CBS seems to be reconsidering the fate of the Reagans. In an interview with CBS Studios head David Stapf, it was revealed that there was at least one attempt to spin off a major character, but that idea appears to be dead.
According to Deadline, the network explored the possibility of giving Danny Reagan (played by Donnie Wahlberg) his own series. However, the concept won’t move forward, as it never reached the scripting stage. This means Danny won’t be taking the lead as the franchise’s future standard bearer—at least for now.
