Donnie Wahlberg recently revealed that his co-star Tom Selleck was brought to tears during the filming of the Blue Bloods finale. “He was standing in the back corner, tears in his eyes. It was like the waterworks turned on,” Donnie recalled on Sirius XM’s Andy Cohen Live. “I could literally cry just thinking about it.”
Wahlberg, who played NYPD Detective Danny Reagan, reflected on the strong bond he formed with Selleck, who portrayed Danny’s father, Commissioner Frank Reagan. He emphasized their collaborative relationship, saying, “I don’t just show up and say, ‘Tell me what to do, Tom.’ We have a back-and-forth… there’s a process, and we both respect what each other brings to the table.”
Regarding the finale, Donnie teased that fans would be satisfied with the conclusion, mentioning, “There’ll be a lot of tears similar to what we had. There’s a very sad scene in the middle of the final episode that will be emotional. It feels like a finale, but a hopeful one.”
