Hetty’s Shocking Return to the NCIS Universe—You Won’t Believe How!

Abigail Hawk, who portrays Abigail Baker on Blue Bloods, recently shared her thoughts on the potential for the show to be saved by transferring to another network following CBS’s decision to end the long-running procedural. Debuting in 2011, Blue Bloods has set itself apart from typical cop dramas by focusing on the Reagan family rather than a police squad, making its cancellation particularly hard for fans to accept as it approaches its finale.

In an interview with Hello Magazine, Hawk addressed the possibility of Blue Bloods continuing on a different network. While she remains hopeful, she expressed skepticism about any broadcaster picking up the series after its run on CBS. She stated, “I don’t think there’s a possibility of it going to another network. I know that there’s been a bit of chatter about that, but I don’t think that’s a viable option given the talks that we’ve had with the cast and the producers.”

Despite her doubts, Hawk emphasized the importance of holding onto hope. “At the end of the day, CBS can do whatever they want, but I hope they realize not only how commercially viable Blue Bloods is, but how beloved it is, and the staying power that it has, because family is universal, and there are more stories to be told.”

Meanwhile, the NCIS universe is buzzing with news, especially after the recent cancellation of NCIS: Hawaii and the upcoming NCIS: Origins, a prequel series that will explore Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ early days as an agent in the 1990s. This new series aims to delve into Gibbs’ history, focusing on his relationships with characters such as his father Jackson, Mike Franks, and Special Agent Vera Strickland.

Fans are intrigued yet cautious about how much NCIS: Origins might alter the established backstory developed over the show’s 19 seasons. Co-showrunners David North and Gina Monreal have teased the potential appearance of younger versions of characters from the NCIS spin-offs, including Dwayne Pride from NCIS: New Orleans and Hetty Lange from NCIS: Los Angeles. While nothing is confirmed, these cameos could enhance the connections within the NCIS universe.

Dwayne Pride’s appearance seems likely due to his shared history with Gibbs, especially concerning the “Fed Five” who hunted down the Privileged Killer. Hetty’s return could be more complex, but if NCIS: Origins continues, writers might find a way to introduce her through familiar characters like Callen. Although it may not be the reunion NCIS: Los Angeles fans hoped for, a young Hetty cameo in NCIS: Origins could shed light on her mysterious activities in the 1990s, offering viewers a fresh perspective on the character.
