Abigail Hawk, who portrays Detective Abigail Baker on Blue Bloods, recently shared her thoughts with HELLO! regarding the potential for a spinoff. As the final episodes of Season 14 air and the series finale approaches in December, Hawk addressed whether the Reagan family might be part of any future projects.
Hawk confirmed that while there have been discussions about a spinoff, it’s unlikely to feature the Reagans or the NYPD. “There was talk of a spin-off happening,” she stated. “But if it does happen right after our series concludes, it must not include the Reagans or the NYPD at all. It has to be situated in Los Angeles; otherwise, we will be following a new family.” This indicates that any prospective spinoff would introduce a fresh cast and storyline, likely set in a different city.
The Future of Blue Bloods on CBS
CBS opted for Season 14 to be the final season of Blue Bloods due to high production costs, with the cast even agreeing to pay cuts to ensure the series could conclude with one more season. Despite this, Blue Bloods continues to attract solid ratings, making a spinoff an appealing possibility for CBS.
Currently, information about a potential spinoff remains limited. Earlier this year, Paramount Global hinted that Blue Bloods could lead to a spinoff, but no concrete details have emerged since. Given the show’s unique appeal, centered around the Reagan family and their experiences in New York, a spinoff without them would likely take a different direction, possibly moving away from the traditional CSI and NCIS model of changing locations.
