For 14 years, fans have gathered around the Reagan dinner table on Blue Bloods, feeling the warmth of a cast that truly resembles family. Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Detective Danny Reagan, admitted that he initially worried about convincingly portraying the son of Frank Reagan, played by Tom Selleck.
On the podcast Brotherly Love, Wahlberg recalled his first meeting with Selleck and his doubts. Standing at 5’11” next to the 6’4″ Selleck, he thought, “How am I this dude’s son? … They’re gonna fire me tomorrow.” He was struck not just by Selleck’s height, but also by his impressive hair and bushy eyebrows.
Fortunately, a meeting with his on-screen grandfather eased Wahlberg’s concerns and reassured him that he could indeed fit into this iconic family tree!
