Blue Bloods fans will need to adjust their Friday night plans for the foreseeable future, as the mid-season finale of the beloved CBS drama aired on May 17. The remaining eight episodes of Season 14 won’t return until fall.
In a video from the set, Donnie Wahlberg, dressed as his character Danny Reagan, reached out to fans: “Blue Bloods fans, thanks for being a part of our amazing season, but we still have more to go. Trust me, it’s unforgettable and full of family drama. Don’t miss the final season of Blue Bloods coming this fall on CBS. See you soon.”
Fans took to the comments section to express their frustration, with one writing, “You guys have made an utterly idiotic decision to cancel the show! It’s still popular, and this makes zero sense.” Another commenter added, “CBS, please don’t cancel this incredible and wonderful show. It’s always been more than just a show; it’s family. The cast and crew work so well together on and off-screen. Nobody is ready to say goodbye. Please don’t end your best show and leave millions heartbroken. It’s not too late to change your minds!”
Many viewers remain hopeful, with another fan stating, “I will remain hopeful (and do what I can to contact CBS) that they will come to their senses and not cancel a heart-lifting program that we need and that has good ratings and is so beloved!”
These upset fans are part of a larger movement, launching the Save Blue Bloods campaign. Even star Tom Selleck, who plays Frank Reagan, has voiced his concerns to CBS. In an interview with Country Living, he remarked, “I think CBS will come to their senses. My hope is that they wake up to the fact that we’re still winning the night on Friday and performing well on Paramount Plus.”
