NCIS Sneak Peek Sparks Fan Backlash—Calls for Cancellation Intensify!

NCIS: Origins Faces Mixed Reactions Amid Fan Outrage Over NCIS: Hawai’i Cancellation

Fans eagerly awaited a sneak peek at the highly anticipated prequel, NCIS: Origins, but the initial reception has been tepid, overshadowed by lingering frustration over the cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i.

Set in the 1990s, NCIS: Origins delves into the early days of the investigative agency, then known as NIS, with Austin Stowell portraying a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a role famously played by Mark Harmon. The show promises to introduce new characters and revisit familiar faces from the NCIS universe. However, the buzz around the prequel has been marred by fan dissatisfaction with the network’s decision to end NCIS: Hawai’i after three seasons.

Images from Origins posted on the NCISVerse’s official Instagram have sparked a wave of criticism. Fans have voiced their displeasure, calling for the prequel to be scrapped in favor of reviving NCIS: Hawai’i. One frustrated fan commented, “Well, you’ve paged this angry NCIS: Hawai’i fan,” criticizing the network’s preference for reboots over diverse programming. Another echoed this sentiment, writing, “Please cancel NCIS: Origins and bring back NCIS: Hawai’i. It’s what the fans want.”

Despite the backlash, some fans are optimistic about this new chapter in the NCIS saga. One supporter remarked, “It’s time to move on now. Hawai’i isn’t coming back, and that’s just how network TV works.” Another added, “Literally the only prequel I’ll ever willingly watch!”

In addition to Origins, CBS is also bringing back beloved characters Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) this season. A new Sydney-based spin-off is also in development for Paramount+, demonstrating that the NCIS franchise remains vibrant despite the controversy.

NCIS: Origins is set to premiere on Monday, October 14 on CBS. In the meantime, fans can stream NCIS on Disney+.
