NCIS Season 22 Photos Confirm Fan-Favorite’s Shocking Return After Exit Rumors!

Jessica Knight is sticking with the Major Case Response Team (MCRT). CBS has officially confirmed that Katrina Law will return as a part of NCIS for its upcoming Season 22, despite the previous season’s finale teasing her character’s potential departure after being offered her dream job.

According to Collider, Law’s Jessica Knight is featured among the newly released promotional images for NCIS Season 22, which include individual profile shots of the returning main characters. This announcement puts to rest any concerns fans may have had about her leaving the team, continuing a familiar pattern of NCIS hinting at character exits only to walk them back. With this, Jessica Knight joins the ranks of Ellie Bishop, Ziva David, and Kate Todd—agents who were also teased to leave MCRT but ultimately remained part of the team.

Before joining NCIS in Season 18, Katrina Law was best known for her role as Nyssa al Ghul in the Arrowverse, appearing in both Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. She also played Quinn Liu in the modern reboots of Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I., both of which aired on CBS. In NCIS, Law’s character Jessica Knight is a member of the MCRT, known for her expertise as a REACT (Regional Enforcement Action Capabilities Training Team) agent, specializing in hostage negotiation and high-stakes situations. Knight is also romantically involved with the team’s medical examiner, Dr. Jimmy Palmer, played by Brian Dietzen.

NCIS, created by Donald P. Bellisario, first premiered in 2003 as a backdoor pilot on the legal drama series JAG. The series, and its broader franchise, follows special agents investigating military-related crimes. Along with Law and Dietzen, the returning main cast for NCIS Season 22 includes Sean Murray as Timothy McGee, Wilmer Valderrama as Nick Torres, Diona Reasonover as Kasie Hines, Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance, and Gary Cole as Alden Parker. This will be the third season without the original series lead, Mark Harmon, as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, although Harmon has expressed openness to returning as a guest star if the writers can craft a compelling reason for his return.

As for what to expect in Season 22, while most story details remain under wraps, showrunner Steven D. Binder recently teased that one episode will explore what happens when someone like Jason Bourne or James Bond—an elite spy with serious skills—ends up in a retirement home, facing the challenges that come with aging. Binder remarked, “What do you do when you have those sorts of skills, and that sort of knowledge, and you’re starting to lose your s–t?”

NCIS Season 22 premieres on CBS on October 14.
