Sean Murray’s NCIS Wardrobe Blamed for His Long-Term Injury!

Going stylish doesn’t always mean staying safe.

Over its more than twenty-year run, CBS’s enduring police procedural NCIS has made it clear that a calm office setting is far from the reality for its Special Agents, who must be ready for anything during their intense missions.

While the show has never prioritized physical comfort or fashion, one of its leading actors once had a James Bond-esque mishap that didn’t end well. Recently, NCIS launched a new podcast titled Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch, hosted by Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo. Sean Murray, who plays Timothy McGee, joined the podcast as a guest.

Fans were thrilled to see Murray reunite with his former co-stars and expressed excitement about his potential appearance in the upcoming spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva, starring Weatherly and de Pablo. During the podcast, Murray reflected on some of the show’s most memorable moments, including an injury he sustained while filming a scene in a car wash for the second season episode “Bikini Wax.” Murray explained that the injury happened because of a wardrobe malfunction—he was wearing dress shoes instead of more practical sneakers.

Murray recounted, “I remember taking a sharp right… My dress shoes slid right out from under me because I was sprinting. I came down on my right hand.” He revealed that his thumb still has “very limited mobility,” though it’s not a major issue since “it’s a good thing I’m a lefty.”

The reason for the dress shoes remains unclear, especially since viewers didn’t see his feet. Nevertheless, the incident could have been much worse. Timothy McGee now has another memorable scene in the show, though it’s a bit bittersweet for fans.
