NCIS: Hawai’i Star Scores First Role Post-Cancellation!

NCIS: Hawai’i star Sharif Atkins has landed his first role since the show’s cancellation, joining the cast of the new Apple TV+ series Me. Atkins, who played Captain Norman ‘Boom Boom’ Gates on NCIS: Hawai’i, will star in this upcoming coming-of-age drama.

Me centers on middle-schooler Ben, who navigates life with a newly blended family while discovering he has superpowers. The 10-episode season will follow Ben’s journey of self-discovery, supported by his stepsister Max, who helps him harness his abilities and solve community mysteries and challenges.

Atkins will portray Darren Kennedy, joining a cast that includes Lucian-River Chauhan as Ben, Abigail Pniowsky, Dilshad Vadsaria, Amanda Reid, Jessy Yates, and Kyle Howard. Created by Barry L. Levy of Vantage Point, the series is set to premiere on July 12 on Apple TV+.

Earlier this year, NCIS: Hawai’i was canceled after three seasons. CBS Entertainment’s Amy Reisenbach addressed the decision to Variety, acknowledging the disappointment of fans while highlighting the necessity of making difficult choices based on viewership metrics and future outlooks.

Me will be available for streaming on Apple TV+ starting July 12.
