Fans Demand Danny and Baez Romance on Blue Bloods!

Blue Bloods: What to Expect in the Final Episodes and the Future of Danny and Baez

As Blue Bloods gears up to conclude with its 14th season, viewers are eagerly anticipating how the long-running procedural will wrap up. With just eight episodes remaining this fall, there’s a lot to look forward to, including the potential resolution of several key storylines, notably the evolving relationship between Detectives Danny Reagan and Maria Baez.

Since Marisa Ramirez joined the cast as Baez in Season 3, fans have sensed a growing connection between her and Danny, especially following the off-screen death of Danny’s wife, Linda (Amy Carlson), between Seasons 7 and 8. This chemistry has been a recurring theme, yet the pair has never formally become a couple.

In a recent Season 14 episode, a fan on X noted Danny’s displeased reaction when Baez went out for drinks with someone else. Donnie Wahlberg, who portrays Danny, shared his own thoughts, showing that he is also invested in this storyline.

“It makes sense that Blue Bloods has taken its time with Danny finding new love after Linda’s death,” Wahlberg commented. His character’s feelings for Baez are evident, though whether this will lead to a romantic relationship remains uncertain as the show nears its end.

Showrunner Kevin Wade has addressed the potential for a Danny and Baez romance. While acknowledging their strong chemistry, Wade has expressed doubts about the feasibility of exploring this relationship in the remaining episodes. “Danny is built and played as a loner, married to his work,” Wade said. “With only eight episodes left, there isn’t enough room to properly develop a new romantic relationship.”

Wade also suggested that even if a romance were to blossom, it might be hinted at or concluded in the series finale or during the final Reagan family dinner scene. There are numerous other loose ends to address, making the timeline tight for significant changes.

As a fan of the Danny and Baez pairing, I’m hopeful that their story might find a satisfying conclusion, whether through a definitive relationship or a meaningful hint. Until then, viewers will have to wait and see how these final episodes unfold.

Blue Bloods fans should tune in on Friday, October 18 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS for the premiere of Season 14, Part 2. You can also catch up on earlier episodes with a Paramount+ subscription.
