Shocking News for ‘Blue Bloods’ Fans About the Show’s Future!

CBS Announces the End of Blue Bloods, But Hints at Future Spinoffs

CBS has officially announced that the beloved Friday night drama Blue Bloods is coming to an end, despite protests from both fans and stars of the series. As viewers await the final episodes to air this fall, the network has offered a glimmer of hope about the show’s future.

During a recent shareholders meeting, Brian Robbins, co-CEO of Paramount Global (the parent company of CBS), shared some intriguing news reported by TVLine: “In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods.” While Paramount had previously confirmed spinoffs for Dexter and Billions, this is the first mention of more to come from the Blue Bloods universe.

The news shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to fans of the NYPD drama. Despite its cancellation, the series continues to perform strongly in the ratings for CBS. In its 14th season, Blue Bloods was the eighth most-watched program on TV and regularly wins its Friday night slot.

Blue Bloods star Tom Selleck expressed his thoughts to Country Living, saying, “They announced this was gonna be our last season. I think CBS will come to their senses. My hope is CBS wakes up to the fact that we’re still winning the night on Friday night and performing on Paramount Plus.”

Still, fans are likely scratching their heads at the news: Why would CBS opt for a spinoff rather than continuing the popular series beyond Season 14? The network has not offered further comment on the reasoning behind this decision.

While this isn’t quite the update Blue Bloods fans were hoping for, any opportunity to see more of the Reagan family is a win. Stay tuned for further developments and enjoy the remaining episodes of the final season this fall.
