Sean Murray Reveals Uncertainty About NCIS’s Future!

NCIS Star Sean Murray Discusses Uncertainty of Character Safety on the Show

Sean Murray, who has portrayed Special Agent Timothy McGee on CBS’s military police drama “NCIS” since 2003, has opened up about the unpredictability of character fates on the long-running series. Speaking to People, Murray emphasized that no character is ever truly safe.

“I think we learned this with things that have happened on the show over the years… No one is quite safe,” he said. Reflecting on his 21-year tenure on “NCIS,” the “Hocus Pocus” star expressed his ongoing enjoyment and gratitude for being part of the show but acknowledged the inherent uncertainty in television.

Despite the unpredictability, Murray shared that the cast is currently having a “good time” on set and that no one seems eager to leave. “A really strong ship was built very early on, and the show developed and founded strengths in a different kind of way than most procedurals,” he explained. He also noted that fans connected with “NCIS” and its characters “early on,” contributing to the show’s enduring success.

In related news, the “NCIS” franchise is set to expand with its newest series, “NCIS: Origins,” which will delve into the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, originally played by Mark Harmon. Harmon will return as the narrator, while Austin Stowell, Mariel Molino, and Kyle Schmid have been cast to play young Gibbs, Lala Dominguez, and a younger Mike Franks, respectively.

“NCIS” airs on CBS in the US, and Seasons 1-20 are available for streaming on Disney+ in the UK. “NCIS: Origins” is currently in production.
