Major Update for NCIS: Hawai’i, But It’s Not Good News!

NCIS: Hawai’i Faces Grim Future After Latest CBS Update

It seems the beloved show has lost all chances of returning after the latest setback. It’s been a while since CBS announced the cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i, despite its impressive ratings and the strong support from fans.

Outraged by the network’s decision to launch another series at the expense of what many consider NCIS’ best spinoff, fans rallied to express their disappointment and started campaigns urging CBS to reconsider. Unfortunately, their efforts fell on deaf ears, as CBS remained firm in its decision to remove NCIS: Hawai’i from its lineup while attempting to show sympathy to the heartbroken fanbase.

Months after the cancellation news broke, hope lingered in the hearts of fans, but recent statements from CBS President David Stapf have dashed those hopes once again. Ahead of CBS’s upcoming TV season, which will see many fan-favorite shows return without NCIS: Hawai’i, Stapf acknowledged the backlash the network faced over its decision to cancel successful series like So Help Me Todd, CSI: Vegas, and NCIS: Hawai’i.

Stapf expressed his fondness for these shows and his desire to see them thrive on CBS, but he admitted that they struggled to compete for time slots against more promising programs. His remarks, however, were not as shocking as what followed. According to Deadline, CBS attempted to pitch the canceled series to other streaming platforms or studios, but none expressed interest in picking them up.

Given that NCIS: Hawai’i was a standout series for CBS, drawing millions of viewers throughout its run, it’s disheartening to learn that no one else saw the potential for future installments.

Despite the cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i, the franchise is poised for a comeback this fall, with Season 22 of the original NCIS and the new series NCIS: Origins set to premiere on CBS, alongside NCIS: Tony & Ziva on Paramount+.
