CBS recently made a promotional move that could be their biggest misstep yet.
Despite officially canceling NCIS: Hawai’i earlier this year, a recent post on the network’s social media account reignited strong emotions among fans of the series. The post, shared by the managers of NCIS’ official Instagram account, ncisverse, aimed to wish followers a happy summer solstice. However, it included several pictures from NCIS production sets, inadvertently featuring characters from NCIS: Hawai’i. This sparked immediate backlash.
Many fans criticized CBS for seemingly disregarding their feelings by posting images that implied NCIS: Hawai’i was still part of the lineup, despite its cancellation. Some fans expressed anger, accusing the network of insensitivity, while others mobilized a petition urging CBS to reconsider reviving NCIS: Hawai’i.
CBS canceled NCIS: Hawai’i in April, leaving fans heartbroken and outraged. Despite efforts including petitions and social media campaigns, the decision remained unchanged. The show’s cancellation was especially disappointing as it ended on a significant cliffhanger that may now never be resolved.
The motives behind the NCIS account managers’ controversial post are unclear, but it has sparked renewed criticism and demands for accountability from CBS.
