NCIS Teases Multiple Ways to Bring Back Beloved Character!

The show’s beloved character might be back, but not in the way you expect.

NCIS is set to return later this year with its 22nd season, and there may be more surprises than fans are anticipating. The finale of the last season left viewers with two major cliffhangers: what will happen to Jessica Knight after she accepts that big offer, and whether Alden Parker’s vision will lead to a deeper exploration of his backstory.

However, the upcoming season might also highlight the return of an original character who departed too soon in season 3. There are still some possibilities for them to make a comeback.

Since its debut in 2003, NCIS featured Sasha Alexander’s Caitlin “Kate” Todd as one of the Special Agents until the season 2 finale, where she was killed by sniper and Mossad double-agent Ari Haswari. Ziva David later took over Kate’s duties. Since then, Kate appeared in a few episodes of the third season, but only as a projection seen by her colleagues as they coped with her tragic death.

To the fans’ surprise and delight, Sasha Alexander recently reunited with her co-stars, Michael Weatherly (Anthony DiNozzo) and Cote de Pablo (Ziva David), on their new podcast Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch on Spotify. On the podcast, the on-screen couple invites people who were involved in the original show to re-watch its most memorable moments.

While Sasha Alexander’s appearance on an NCIS-related podcast isn’t a definitive sign of her return to the role of Kate Todd, there are still ways she could come back to the series. Given the shock of Kate Todd’s death to fans who loved her character, NCIS might consider bringing Kate back as a hallucination experienced by one of the team members.

If that option doesn’t work for the show’s creators, Sasha Alexander could return in a different capacity, such as directing episodes. She already has experience directing episodes of shows like Rizzoli & Isles, You, and Bull.

Whatever direction the NCIS crew decides to take, fans will undoubtedly be excited about Sasha Alexander’s potential return to the CBS procedural giant nearly twenty years after her departure.
