In an oral history of the popular CBS procedural series NCIS from THR, various insiders revealed intriguing details about the show’s early days, including rumors about Jennifer Aniston’s potential involvement.
It was rumored that Jennifer Aniston expressed interest in the role of Caitlin Todd during the show’s pre-production phase. However, according to Charles Floyd Johnson, an executive producer for both NCIS and JAG, Aniston’s name was indeed considered for the role at the time because she was available.
NCIS casting director Susan Bluestein, on the other hand, recalls differently. She stated, “I don’t remember ever offering it to Jennifer Aniston,” although she acknowledged that Aniston’s name could have been discussed among potential candidates.
Ultimately, the role of Caitlin Todd went to Sasha Alexander, who departed the series after two seasons due to a demanding work schedule.
The oral history also delved into discussions about casting Leroy Jethro Gibbs, revealing the extensive process of pitching and considering various actors for the pivotal role.
