Netflix Anchors NCIS! Release Dates for Seasons 16 & 17 Revealed!

The new seasons of NCIS will be available to binge-watch on Netflix in June, with the streaming platform adding seasons 16 and 17. Netflix Tudum announced on Thursday, May 30, that following the availability of the first 15 seasons in the US, the military police procedural will expand with two more seasons on June 30.

In these new seasons of NCIS, the team delves into a mystery involving a government-backed vigilante justice group. Supervisory Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, makes a shocking confession about the deaths of his first wife and daughter.

Additionally, midway through season 16, the show reveals that former Special Agent Ziva David, presumed dead from a mortar attack in season 13, is actually alive. Ziva had faked her death to protect her family from an assassin targeting her daughter, Tali. In the season 16 finale, Ziva appears in Gibbs’ basement to warn him of a severe threat.

Season 17, although cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, explores the repercussions of Ziva’s return. She and Gibbs are on the run from the assassin while also attempting to repair their strained relationship.

Originally debuting in 2003 as a spin-off of JAG, NCIS was created by Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill and has remained a beloved series for nearly two decades.
