NCIS’ Daniela Ruah Makes Triumphant Return as Director!
Former NCIS: Los Angeles star Daniela Ruah, who portrayed Kensi Blye from 2009 to 2023, is returning to the NCIS universe in a new capacity as a director. Following the conclusion of the spin-off last year, Ruah is set to direct an episode of the main NCIS series this month, which will air in March, and an episode of NCIS: Hawai’i, which will be filmed next month and air in April, according to Deadline.
Ruah expressed her excitement to Deadline, saying, “Kensi was born as a character on NCIS 15 years ago, so now to be able to step onto that set again, as a director, with that incredible cast and crew, is an absolute honor. So many familiar faces and people I love have welcomed me with open arms. It’s like coming home.”
This isn’t Ruah’s first time behind the camera; she previously directed an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles a few years ago. However, it remains unconfirmed whether she will make a cameo appearance as Kensi, who discovered she was pregnant in her final appearance on the show.
In related news, Mark Harmon, despite stating in November that he wouldn’t return to the franchise, has announced his comeback as narrator and producer of NCIS: Origins. This new series will explore the early life of Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Harmon’s son, Sean, shared his enthusiasm: “The character of Gibbs has been an important part of my life for 20 years, both in watching my father craft the role and previously having the honor to play young Gibbs myself. I always felt there was a tale worth telling about his earlier years, so I am thrilled to be stepping into a producing role alongside Gina, David, and my dad as we tell this story and reveal a new side of this beloved character.”
