CBS has given NCIS fans something to celebrate with the greenlight of “NCIS: Origins,” a prequel series narrated by Mark Harmon, who also serves as an executive producer alongside his son, Sean Harmon, Gina Lucita Monreal, and David J. North.

Set in 1991 at NCIS Camp Pendleton, the show follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs as he embarks on his career. Audiences can expect gritty investigations under the guidance of NCIS legend Mike Franks.

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach expressed enthusiasm, promising a rich backstory that delves into Gibbs’ formative years.

Mark Harmon’s departure from NCIS in 2021 left fans emotional, but his return as narrator adds a fresh dimension to the franchise. CBS Studios President David Stapf praised the prequel for exploring Gibbs’ early days.

Sean Harmon, who previously portrayed young Gibbs, joins the team as an executive producer, eager to unveil new facets of the character.

Co-showrunners Monreal and North anticipate revealing untold stories of Gibbs, ensuring surprises even for the most devoted fans.
