CBS Execs Spill Shocking Reasons for NCIS: Hawai’i and CSI: Vegas Cancellations!

CBS has sent shockwaves through television audiences with the abrupt cancellations of two beloved shows, NCIS: Hawai’i and CSI: Vegas. Fans were left stunned, but the network has provided clarity on its decision-making process. According to TheWrap, the cancellations were based on a thorough evaluation of each show’s performance and financial viability. With a robust lineup of new programming on the horizon, CBS faced tough decisions that ultimately led to the end of both Hawai’i and Vegas.

Amy Reisenbach, CBS Entertainment president, highlighted the necessity of maintaining a dynamic schedule and sustaining momentum. She acknowledged the difficulty of the choices made, stating, “We had to make some really tough choices this year; everything came back really strong.” Unfortunately, unlike S.W.A.T., neither CSI: Vegas nor NCIS: Hawai’i will have the opportunity for a revival or a move to Paramount+, as CBS CEO George Cheeks explained, “Budgets are challenged, so we don’t have an unlimited amount of slots on Paramount+.”

Despite the cancellations, there’s hope for the CSI franchise, with another installment in development, albeit with few details disclosed. Meanwhile, the NCIS universe continues to thrive. The flagship series is gearing up for another season, accompanied by NCIS: Sydney, and the highly anticipated NCIS: Origins is slated for a fall debut. Additionally, discussions are underway for a streaming spinoff featuring popular characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David.

The news came as a blow to the stars of the affected shows. Vanessa Lachey, known for her role in NCIS: Hawai’i, expressed mixed emotions, while Marg Helgenberger of CSI: Vegas bid farewell to her crime-solving colleagues with heartfelt sentiment.
