Vanessa Lachey took to social media to express her reflections on her time on NCIS: Hawai’i, following the announcement of CBS canceling the show after three seasons.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Lachey shared a poignant message about the significance of the show to her and her desire for a more fitting farewell.
“Forever your Sweet Jane… This spot holds a special significance as it was where I filmed episode 1,” Lachey wrote alongside a video captured by her husband Nick Lachey, showcasing a serene ocean view. “In June 2021, at 2 am, I sat here and gazed out into the ocean. I pleaded for protection for myself, my family, my crew, and our show. I promised to honor the beauty and integrity of Hawai’i while sharing its essence with the world. Sitting here today, with the knowledge that our show has come to an end, I turned to the ocean once more… wondering what comes next… (please, protect us all). And she responded effortlessly.”
Reflecting on the transient nature of life, Lachey continued, “Just like the meeting of air and water, and the ebb and flow of waves upon the shore, our time here is finite. We cherish what we’ve been given, nurture it, and then leave it better for those who follow.”
Expressing her gratitude and affection for her colleagues, she wished for remembrance of the beauty they shared. “I wish we had more time, and I’m sorry for the lack of a proper farewell. But I know our connections run deeper than any TV show. I will always stand by my cast and crew, willing to support them in any way possible. If you encounter any of them, I urge you to hire them—they are truly exceptional individuals.”
“In Hawai’i, we don’t bid ‘Goodbye,’ we say ‘A Hui Hou,’ meaning ‘until we meet again.’ To everyone, especially our beloved fans… A Hui Hou,” she concluded. “With Love Always, Your Sweet Jane.”
