Mark Harmon recently revealed an intriguing tidbit about his iconic NCIS character. The 72-year-old actor, known for his portrayal of Leroy Jethro Gibbs for 19 seasons, shared that initially, his character almost had a different name! Harmon disclosed that when he first encountered the name “Leroy Jethro Gibbs,” he was immediately drawn to it. However, there was a brief moment during the project’s inception where the character’s name was considered to be changed to something like “Bob Johnson” or a similar moniker. Harmon firmly insisted that the character remain Leroy Jethro Gibbs, despite objections from the series creator. Ultimately, the name reverted to its original form, much to Harmon’s satisfaction.
In other NCIS-related news, earlier this year, a producer hinted at the possibility of Harmon’s return to the show, sparking excitement among fans. Additionally, it was revealed that there were 10 prominent actors who were considered for the role of Special Agent Gibbs.
Fans eagerly await further updates as the highly anticipated 21st season of NCIS approaches.
