Rocky Carroll shared insights with TV Insider during our NCIS: Case Closed aftershow for the 1,000th episode, hinting at a Season 21 finale that leaves one character’s fate uncertain (excluding Vance). With CBS now unveiling the official description for the episode titled “Reef Madness,” airing on May 6, the pieces are falling into place.
In “Reef Madness,” CBS reveals that Parker (Gary Cole) and Knight (Katrina Law) stumble upon three bodies aboard an old Navy vessel slated to become an artificial reef. Their investigation takes a perilous turn when they find themselves trapped inside by an enigmatic assailant. Meanwhile, Vance extends a unique opportunity to Knight.
Carroll’s earlier hints about the season’s conclusion now align with this description. “I’m always amazed at how every time you think that we can’t top ourselves as far as the team getting in danger and getting in trouble, we seem to come up with something else,” he remarked. “There is a global threat and there is another character on the show that—things don’t go as planned and we’re not exactly sure how things are going to end for one of our characters. Once again, the team has to circle the wagons and rally.”
